In Germany, digital health applications can be prescribed in various ways at the expense of the statutory health insurance. The most important way today is the prescription of a digital health application as a DiGA. Digital health applications such as apps, web applications and other digital medical devices become eligible for reimbursement under the statutory health insurance scheme when they are included in the DiGA directory of the BfArM.
As soon as the digital health application has been included in the DiGA directory, it can be prescribed to the patient by doctors or psychotherapists on prescription, provided that it is indicated.
